Description:
This collaborative deck by 22 American artists shares creative and imaginative interpretations of the Tarot.
Each artist chose a work of literature or popular fiction (of American authors or anywhere else in the world)
that relates to a specific card in the Major Arcana. The card title, book name and card number in Roman numerals
are all clearly displayed. Many of the choices are clever, while others are powerful or endearing.
The artwork, which consists mostly of paintings, pen & ink, or collage (digital or by hand) creates a sense
of harmony given the shared literary theme while also making for
some refreshing contrasts in style and interpretation. Most of the books chosen by the artists are
easily recognizable as popular works of fiction (as well as how they
relate in meaning to the given card). Each card was made specifically for this unique deck and the
original artworks now hang in the lovely Museo dei Tarocchi, in Riola Italy.
A beautiful deck for collectors and those who are drawn to
art decks though this would also work well for doing
Majors only
readings.
The full deck can be found here.
Clicking on any of the cards will bring up a larger image as well as the artist's description and
meaning for the card.
