Hokusai Tarot
This exquisite deck by Maestro Menegazzi is a touching tribute to the great legacy of artist
Katsushika Hokusai
(1760 – 1849), a famed printmaker from the Edo period. Hokusai is
best known for his woodblock print series 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji', which
included the internationally iconic print, the 'Great Wave off Kanagawa', created during the 1820's and honored in Osvaldo's new deck as the
o-Fool card (for reasons revealed in the enclosed leaflet, written by Cristina Dorsini of
il Meneghello).
Osvaldo Menegazzi has always had great affection and admiration for the
mysterious, alluring realms of Asia, especially Japan. These colorful cards
tantalize the spirit and honor a beloved artist from across the seas, while
sharing fresh nuance to
the traditional
Tarot interpretations.
*Note* More luxurious, hand-crafted deck & box sets may be available.
The cards in the more reasonably priced, 'standard' set featured here are quite large (7 x 3.5 inches -17.8 cm x 8.9 cm - 180 x 90 mm) and
perfect for meditation, framing and would be a treasure in any deck collection.
Created in the wonderful workshop of
il Meneghello
which can be found in the heart of Milan, where Maestro Menegazzi has lived for over eight decades. Ten images shared below.
